Avvai Shanmugi (Tamil: அவ்வை சண்முகி) is a 1996 Tamil comedy film directed by K. S. Ravikumar. The film stars Kamal Haasan in dual roles opposite Meena Durairaj, with supporting roles played by Gemini Ganesan, Delhi Ganesh, Nagesh, Heera Rajgopal, Manivannan, and Nassar. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Deva. The film was an Indian adaptation of the American comedy film, Mrs. Doubtfire and Tootsie. It was released on Diwali, 1996. A year later, Kamal remade the film in Hindi as Chachi 420.The film was one of the turning points in kamalhassan career.
